My docking station and adapter work great with my laptop, but when I close the lid on the laptop, it automatically turns itself off or goes to sleep mode. Is there a way to prevent this?

Most Windows-based laptops have power management settings that by default put the laptop to sleep when the lid is closed, regardless of connections to external displays, keyboards, or input devices like a mouse. If you prefer the system remain active with the laptop lid closed when using an external monitor, you can change the default Windows settings:

- For Windows 10
  1. Start by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Power Options from
      the menu.
  2. Select the blue link for Additional power settings on the right side of the
      Power Options settings page.
  3. From the choices present on the left-hand side of the Power Options
window, please click on "Choose what closing the lid does"
  4. Make sure the setting for "When I close the lid" under the Plugged In
column is set to Do Nothing

- For Windows 11
  1. Start by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Power Options from
      the menu.
  2. In the upper left corner of the settings window, in the search box, type "lid,"
then select "Change what closing the lid does" from the search results.
  3. Make sure the setting for【When I lose the lid】under the Plugged In
      column is set to【Do Nothing】.
  4. Click the 【Save Changes】 button to apply the new settings.

- For macOS (based on macOS Ventura 13.2)
  1. Start by right clicking on the "Apple Menu" in the top left corner of the
      desktop and select System Settings.
  2. Head over to "Lock Screen"  and change "Turn display off on power adapter
      when inactive" to "Never."

Note: MacOS needs to be connected to power and an external monitor to achieve the state of not entering sleep when the screen turns off.
