We all know about ergonomics, but spare a moment to think about
eyegonomics.
The demands we place on our eyes today are far greater than in previous generations, with many of us spending around 6-8 hours of every day staring at a digital device. Its part of contemporary life – we need technology - PCs, smartphones and tablets for our work, study and leisure - but overuse of these devices, not to mention the additional time we spend viewing television, is putting considerable strain on our eyes and may be doing irreparable damage.
Tired, sore eyes are not productive in the workplace.
Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) is a recognised condition amongst office workers today, the consequences of prolonged ‘screen time’ include headaches, tension in the neck and shoulders and irritated red eyes, but research is also shows permanent more serious implications to our visual system including the early onset of macular degeneration.
BenQ, a leading global manufacturer of digital panels is the first in the industry to respond to the call to make computer screens easier on the eyes. They’ve taken an eyegonomic approach, incorporating simple functionality into their monitors, making them healthier and enabling a longer usage period for their technology before the impact of CVS becomes apparent.
The new business monitor, BL2405HT has been fitted with
LBL or
low blue light technology, which essentially filters out harmful blue light emissions which have been shown to cause damage to retinal cells in the eyes. With
BenQ LBL monitors, the screen can be customised to its application with a maximum of 70% of the blue light filtered from the screen when used in ‘reading mode’ which is ideal for business use, making it a healthier proposition for business.
“Business is always looking for ways to reduce down time and staff productivity is an important factor in profitability and success,” said Martin Moelle, BenQ’s MD for Australia. “The new BL2405HT monitor offers ultra-high dynamic contrast ratio of 12M:1, a 16:9 100% dot-to-dot image quality in addition to the eyegonomic inclusions of LBL and Flicker-free technology. Ergonomics are not ignored either, with a height adjustable stand (HAS) for added comfort and flexibility.”
The BL2405HT will retail for $299.00.
