Shape the Dynamic Story

In 1863, the nation of Japan is in turmoil, with the chaos of war, disease, and political unrest riddling the lands and dividing its people. As a Ronin, a masterless samurai, the path you take in this story is completely your own as the decisions you make can unfold in different ways. You’ll make critical mission decisions, find allies, enemies, and shape the course of history forever. As you explore Japan, discover how beautiful it truly is with BenQ CinematicColor technology, creating true-to-life colors that make every blade of grass and sway of the trees feel alive.

Before starting your journey, you’ll create the Blade Twins, two custom characters whose every detail is selected by you. Though you’ll play as one throughout the game, both play a role in the overall story. The character creation menu is exceptionally detailed for this game, allowing you to make any character you can imagine. Pictured on the right is an original character example, with every detail from her jawline shape to her eyebrows to her hair style selected. Being able to see all the detailed options clearly will make the character creation process a breeze, and with the large screen projection capabilities of the X3100i you’ll be able to accurately depict the character you imagine.

Based on choices made when designing your characters, you’ll have access to a wide array of weapons that were common during the Boshin war period. In the weapons menu, pictured left, you can easily see each weapon you have access to too, how they benefit your character, and the overall efficiency of the weapon. With colors indicating important information about the weapon, and skills being highlighted it they’ll be upgraded or downgraded, you’ll want the vibrant colors from the X3100i to navigate efficiently and choose which weapon to use! All of these weapons can be upgraded and customized as you go and the game offers accessible combat that is suitable to most playstyles. You can combine techniques, weapons, and abilities to create the ultimate warrior.

Explore this authentic open world with your original character and experience the cultural revolution of the East and West. Yokohama, Kyoto, and Edo are some of the cities you’ll be able to see, alongside many areas in the countryside. This game offers the perfect opportunity to explore what Japan once was and immerse yourself in the beauty. With a X3100i, you’ll notice every crisp detail, vibrant color, and feel the warmth of Japan as if you were there.

The Blade Twins

The Veiled Edge resistance group are on a mission to overthrow the tyrannical Shogunate, with the Blade Twins spearheading the mission after their family was murdered. Taking on the role of a nameless ronin, your character is carving their path through the Bakumatsu Period. Full of rich history and story, Rise of the Ronin is a great example of how incredible open world gaming can be on a gaming projector. Yokohama is an exotic melting pot of traditional Japanese elements and Western influences which blend together well. Explore every vivid detail of the city on the X3100i, and form alliances with the people of the streets.

Traditional Japan is being changed to reflect the influences from the West, and in many cities you can see Western-style buildings next to traditional Japanese architecture. The image to the right is a perfect example of this contrast. The buildings on the left of the character are Western-style buildings, with a horse-drawn carriage parked in front, while the buildings to the right are the traditional Japanese buildings that were there originally. Navigating the cities can feel tricky with this blend of styles, but with the crisp details of the X3100i, each building will stand out and you’ll be able to appreciate the intricate details of Japanese architecture.

The decisions you make affect the alliances you form and how convincing you are in tough situations. Working on those skills develops your character and the story, which you can do by strengthening your relationship with your formed allies. In the image to the left is the Longhouse, the location where your character and their allies will rest and share stories. The man here is an ally based on a decision to save him, but you can make him an enemy by choosing to fight him instead. This location is a traditional Japanese home, with a small garden and large communal area. You can maintain it with the menu on the right or take the time to rest. While here, serene music is being played that enhances the calming environment. With the X3100i, there is no need for external speakers because the projector has treVolo speakers, enhanced by BenQ CinematicSound technology, that make your gaming space feel as serene as the Longhouse does.

Explore the History

The game was intended to depict Japan in its darkest times, with a lot of care and effort put into accurately depicting this time period. As Westerns arrive and demand Japan opens up to the world, its citizens demand their voices be heard but only cause war to tear across the land. While you pick which side you’re on based on your decisions, certain enemies and bandit camps will always be areas of battles. On the map, as you unlock new areas, important tasks such as bandit camps, shrines, and cats will be marked with unique symbols. With the crips and vivid details of the X3100i, it will be easy to see these symbols and find your way to these important locations.

As you raid bandit camps, you may come across people in need of rescue who help you defeat the bandits. In the image to the right, you can clearly see the main character sneaking up on an oblivious enemy and the location of other enemies with the red bar on the top. Being able to see this vibrant red bar, the goals of the mission to the right, and your stamina is crucial to taking down these bandit camps. The vibrant colors and crisp details in this image are thanks to BenQ CinematicColor technology, available on each gaming projector.

There is a lot to explore outside of the main story, and great opportunities for upgrading skills and weapons before taking on larger challenges. With a game this detailed, you need to experience it with full immersion on a gaming projector. Traditional Japan is a stunning sight, so jump back in time and rise to the challenge on a X3100i
