Al Bashaer Language School has been providing quality K-12 education to students in Cairo, Egypt for more than 20 years. Their international curriculum equips their graduates with essential 21st century skills, preparing them for higher education and the real world.

In recent years, the school administration wanted to modernize their K-12 classrooms with cutting-edge solutions that would allow their teachers to deliver more blended learning activities.

Driven by a desire to enhance student engagement and replace older tech in the classroom, Al Bashaer Language School sought to upgrade their teaching tools.

“One of the school’s main goals is to use new teaching methods,” says Al Bashaer Principal Samah Sabahy. “We have always been keen to implement new technologies on the market.”

Al Bashaer teachers were relying on traditional teaching tools such as chalkboards and whiteboards, as well as projectors with touch capabilities. However, the solutions in place didn’t allow for students and teachers to carry out different activities simultaneously, which affected student engagement. 

“At Al Bashaer School, traditional technology hampered lesson flow,” Sabahy said. “Previous devices couldn’t accommodate concurrent teacher and student activities, forcing teachers to choose between their tasks and disrupting student work.” 

The school needed a solution that would address these issues. They wanted technology that would enable seamless multimedia integration and make teaching more efficient. The school also hoped the new solution would foster collaboration and communication skills in students, equipping them with 21st century skills needed for them to thrive in the workforce. In addition, the solution would give teachers more time to focus on instruction.

Teachers at the school needed a solution that would allow them to easily incorporate multimedia content, gamification, and collaboration to engage students and address different learning styles. 

After seeing demos of interactive projectors from another manufacturer, Al Bashaer administrators asked their IT team for advice on which solution to pick. The team recommended BenQ Boards. Students now “enjoy the learning process and they get engaged enthusiastically through fun,” says Dalia Shawky, middle and high school education director at Al Bashaer.

“Ever since we started using the BenQ Board, mathematics has been easier to explain,” says Sahar Ashraf, a math teacher at Al Bashaer. Teachers now display relevant pictures and videos on the board to provide deeper insights and foster a more enriching learning environment. “We can Google anything we want and search for any needed videos on YouTube so the lesson becomes more interactive and easier to understand.”

Plus, students joining remotely can now seamlessly access lesson files that teachers share with them directly from the board.

“The BenQ Board changed my life and made my experience a lot better,” says Esraa Youssef, an English teacher at Al Bashaer. “The kids are having lots of fun; I can send and share files online, I can help students who are not around, I can play games with the kids. You can actually have a cooperative learning experience and kids are having the best time of their lives.”

Teachers can now quickly and easily access their cloud materials on the board and sign into their personalized teaching space on any board in the school thanks to BenQ’s Account Management System (AMS).

“With BenQ AMS, technology became a silent ally, empowering teachers to focus on what matters most – inspiring young minds,” says Youssef.

In addition to presentation and accessing lessons, the BenQ Board is facilitating the entire lesson planning process from incorporating interactive learning materials to saving in-class content and grading assignments directly on the board.
