Uncover the Mysteries Within: God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla on a BenQ Gaming Projector

BenQ Game Zone Series

BenQ Writer: Alexandria Hulslander
2024/01/09

God of War Ragnarök, a Santa Monica Studios game, came out in 2022 and swept fans away with the incredible story and gameplay. Continuing the story from God of War, Kratos and his son Atreus had to face the consequences of killing gods on their journey to defy fate. After succeeding in this journey and parting ways, Kratos was left to help clean up the Norse realms and find peace within himself. In Valhalla, we find Kratos battling with a question Freya has posed him: to retake the mantle of God of War and join her council to maintain peace amongst the realms. In order to decide, Kratos must face echoes of his past within Valhalla as he tries to truly find the peace he has so long sought. Embark on this journey to master both mind and body with Kratos on an X3100i gaming projector, the best way to challenge Valhalla head-on and experience every vivid detail of the realms within. Welcome to the BenQ Game Zone Series!

The Shores of Valhalla

Valhalla cannot be forcefully entered, nor can you cheat the challenges it has laid out for you. Týr has mysteriously invited Kratos to accept the challenge of Valhalla to face his past and accept the things he’s done. With the help of Freya and the Valkyrie, Kratos and Mimir enter Valhalla, stripped of armor and abilities, with only his weapons available. Created by memories and echoes of the past, Valhalla has designed each area to reflect the nine realms, utilizing different enemies faced in the full game. Each area was designed with the same care and intricacies as the game, allowing players to experience the beauty and depth of the realms once again. Utilizing a gaming projector, such as the X3100i, gamers won’t miss out on a single vivid detail of the realms, from the realistic colors of the skies above to the crips details of the traversal challenge areas.

As Kratos battles enemies and unlocks new areas, he reaches memories of Greek locations, enemies, and characters that players of the original trilogy will be thrilled to come across. Helios, Greek god of the sun who Kratos beheaded, takes the place of Mimir during the Greek trials and challenges Kratos to explain why he made those original choices and what, if anything, he gained from them. With a more detailed and clear design, the overall looks and facial expressions of Helios come to life on the X3100i. Týr also helps guide Kratos to acceptance and realization through challenges and questioning. Each successful attempt where Kratos finds a relic from his past, he looks into his memories alongside Týr and explains what he was thinking or feeling. The storytellingart style of these memories is stunning and the movements in the water as the images shift are fully captured with the X3100i. For players of the original game, it is refreshing to style a new art style present these scenes with such clarity and detail. The sad beauty of these memories is clearly displayed by the vivid colors of a BenQ gaming projector.

Each successful attempt ends with a combat challenge from Týr who utilizes a different weapon from his travels. Regardless of if you win or lose against Týr, you’re sent back to the Shores of Valhalla until Kratos is ready to face his past head on.

Combat Reimagined

As a challenge to players, the Santa Monica studio team created a new way to engage in combat as Valhalla limits what a player can use and do during each trial. At each intersection, between battles, you’ll have the option to upgrade a skill or weapon, but you have to select a weapon of focus for each attempt. If you fail an attempt, you’ll be sent back to the start, having lost all your upgrades aside from health and rage. Some upgrades, purchased with rune stones later, will remain. All of these options can be found in the menu, which is the same style as the game. However, on the X3100i, the crisp details of the menu stand out, allowing players to appreciate the designs in each tab and clearly see the options available.

You can regain access to your armor and weapon hilts, but each new attempt will reset his Stats, some Runic Attacks, and certain Percs. You’ll be challenged to master a different weapon as new combinations of enemies are thrown your way. While you can find rewards opportunities, you’ll have to decide which option is better for your trial and rebuild your resources should you fail. Valhalla anticipates your next move so give new tactics and strategies a try.

True to character, Kratos maintains his Spartan Rage to aid him in battle against tough enemies or ones that require a unique battle style. Even if you’re not a fan of brutal fighting styles and finishers, the stunning details and color contrast provided by the X3100i create an incredible combat experience. You can clearly see the enemy's health bar, your health bar, and won’t miss a single cue to finish them off. BenQ CinematicColor technology and 4LED color volume will also help you find and unlock the rewards chests and the Valhalla’s Chosen Slain challenges during each attempt.

There are four battles with Týr before Kratos is ready to walk through the doors and come face-to-face with who he used to be. You will be faced with a Nordic Shield & Spear, a Mesoamerica Macuahuitl, Egyptian Khopesh Blades, and a Japanese Katana, each one a symbol of Týr’s travels and a potential hint to future games. The weapons appear quickly and are used with precision and knowledge, not allowing players much time to examine the weapon and its design. However, with a large screen and the X3100i, you’ll be able to see every detail of his weapons clearly and anticipate his incoming attacks with these weapons.

Master Thyself, Master the Game

Kratos has accepted the challenge put forth by Týr because he does not believe himself to be worthy of a position on Freya’s council. He believes that, by seeing the quest through Valhalla, he will find the peace he has been searching for and be able to make a decision that is best for the realms. As he recalls the horrors of his past, he reexamines the motive behind the decisions and the pain he felt that drove him to such rage. Each memory is a vivid glimpse into the original God of War trilogy, portrayed best on a gaming projector, with a tribute at the end as Kratos walks up to his old self sitting on the throne that once belonged to Ares.

The quality and design of the original trilogy Kratos is stunning to see on the big screen with a gaming projector for fans of the games. Even though he does not speak, the look in his eyes is pure rage, and current-day Kratos faces off with his strong stature and final acceptance of his existence. On a BenQ gaming projector, you can see every detail of his wounds, the deep red of his Spartan tattoos, and get a new, detailed look at his original design and clothing. This scene ends with Kratos taking his place on the throne and finding peace within himself. Experiencing this scene on a monitor or tv would not do it justice, and the best way to fully immerse yourself in the moment is with the X3100i BenQ Gaming Projector. Kratos has mastered himself, but have you mastered the gaming experience?

Fully immerse yourself in the mental and physical journey of Kratos of Sparta on the best gaming projector, the X3100i. God of War Ragnarök is a truly cinematic game that should be experienced on a big screen with a gaming projector. It is recommended that players complete the full game before beginning the Valhalla DLC, which is available at any point after download. Already faced the challenges of God of War?
