I’ve tested a few projectors throughout my hunt for a golf simulator and this one wins by a large margin! Previously, I was using the BenQ TK800M 4K projector. That is a really solid and affordable 4k projector but it was no match for this one… I saw a major increase in the following: picture quality, sharpness, dynamic range, and setup. The BenQ LK936ST is a short throw projector which after testing I think is the best type of projector for golf simulation. I had the projector ceiling mounted and was worried about potentially hitting the projector but after setup that was a non-issue.

Colors look deep and sharp, but the dynamic range with saturated colors really make greens, blues, and other colors pop! There is a Golf “mode” that adjusts the color profile to fit and I found that mode to be more true to life than some of the others. Personally I prefer some of the other modes because I like a more saturated look with brighter colors, but the Golf mode is much more true to life.

The picture quality really makes this projector stand out! It is amazing! The lens shift correction makes this projector a breeze to set up. With other projectors, I had to ensure the projector was at the perfect spot prior to mounting (which is a major pain), and this projector has both horizontal and vertical lens shifts, with 1.1x zoom. This allows the setup process to be much smoother than other offerings.
Some of the previous projectors I have tested and used are:
1. Optima GT1080HDR (short throw)
2. BenQ TK800M 4K projector
3. LG HU70LA 4K projector

We also tested the projector to use as a home theater projector and it excelled in every way! It actually demonstrated even better picture quality and dynamic range than our current home theater projector the LG HU70LA 4K. All in all you are getting a great projector! It may be a bit more pricey than some other 4k projectors, but based on its quality and capabilities, I would say its well worth it!
