About the School
Parahyangan Catholic University, also known as UNPAR, is a private university based in Bandung, Indonesia that boasts more than seven buildings on campus and an active student enrollment exceeding 2,500.
Established in 1955, UNPAR is one of Indonesia's oldest and most esteemed educational institutions. In a bid to upgrade their classrooms, the school sought a technology solution that could empower educators with interactive tools while remaining easily manageable for their IT team.
The Challenge
The university aims to provide cutting-edge educational experiences that will equip graduates with the skills they need to enter the modern workforce.
“In line with that, we recognize that technology plays an important role,” says Andreas Kurniawan Djukardi, Director of Finance for Facilities and Infrastructure Assets of Parahyangan Catholic University.
To realize their vision, the university aimed to replace conventional whiteboards and projectors in their classrooms. The goal was to facilitate seamless sharing of lesson materials and ignite classroom engagement for teachers and students, all while ensuring that IT can intuitively manage the new devices.
“The synergy of these two BenQ products allows us to create smart classrooms at Parahyangan Catholic University.”
BenQ Solutions
After exploring their options, the university embraced BenQ Boards and smart projectors to replace their conventional solutions, opting for BenQ Board Pro RP8603 smart boards and BenQ Wireless Smart Projector EW600 models.
By choosing BenQ Boards and smart projectors, the university has made it easier for teachers and students to seamlessly access lesson content in class on the fly. Both teachers and students can also easily cast content from their smartphones, tablets, or laptops onto the boards and projectors, eliminating the need for a wired connection.
In addition, the university’s IT admins can manage both device types efficiently through BenQ’s central Device Management System (DMS) console and effortlessly push content via X-Sign Broadcast. Additionally, students and teachers can conveniently cast content directly from their devices using the BenQ InstaShare screen sharing app.
“The synergy of these two BenQ products allows us to create smart classrooms at Parahyangan Catholic University,” says Djukardi.
The Results
After implementing BenQ Boards and smart projectors, teachers at the university say that classes have become more engaging than before.
“With EZWrite, the learning atmosphere has become more interactive and collaborative,” says Anindita Nur Pastika, law faculty lecturer at the university. “Students can share notes, convey ideas, and express their opinions actively in the classroom.”
In addition to the EZWrite interactive whiteboard, Pastika and her students use the InstShare app to seamlessly connect their devices to the board, ensuring smooth discussion flow and active participation.
When class winds down, students can easily save lecture materials by scanning a QR code and reviewing them later at their convenience.
“Lecture activities using BenQ interactive flat panels really provide a different experience,” says Pastika.
“We are completely satisfied with the BenQ technology that we use.”
While Parahyangan Catholic University teachers and students enjoy the interactive lessons powered by BenQ Boards and smart projectors, the university’s IT team takes advantage of the newfound control they’ve gained with BenQ’s advanced management features.
BenQ DMS empowers IT to remotely track and control both boards and projectors. No more physically going unit by unit – a glance reveals any potential issues.
“We can now see every unit’s status remotely,” says Sarip Hidayat, IT Manager at UNPAR. “It helps us to detect if there is a problem or not without checking units one by one.”
In addition to remote management, the university uses X-Sign Broadcast to send notices, reminders, and alerts to students directly to BenQ Boards with text, images, and videos.
The university’s teachers and students can now enjoy more convenient and collaborative lectures while IT admins have intuitive and versatile new tools that make managing devices a breeze.
“We are completely satisfied with the BenQ technology that we use,” says Djukardi.
