COSTA MESA, California, Nov 22, 2024 – BenQ, a global leader in display solutions, today announces that its EZWrite 6 interactive whiteboard software has achieved Cloud Application Security Assessment (CASA) Tier 3 verification, confirming that EZWrite 6 safeguards user information by meeting CASA’s stringent end-to-end cloud data security standards.

Tier 3 is the highest CASA rating, and to earn it, apps must pass all CASA security requirements and be fully lab-tested and lab-verified. This means submitting the app, its deployment infrastructure, and data storage to be tested by a CASA-authorized lab for an estimated 60 hours of lab testing, compared to one to four hours of lab testing for Tier 2, and a developer self-assessment for Tier 1.

EZWrite 6 passed all Tier 3 assessment requirements, ensuring the security of its architecture and design and its multiple verification processes, including authentication, session management, and access controls, among others.

To enhance app security and protect users from data breaches, Google, Microsoft, and Meta formed the App Defense Alliance (ADA). The ADA introduced CASA, a framework utilizing the secure Application Security Verification Standard (ASVS) from the Open Worldwide Application Security Project (OWASP) to bolster cloud app security. By adhering to this standard, developers can rigorously test the technical security controls of their cloud-based apps that handle sensitive data. Google further incentivizes this commitment by recognizing developers who achieve CASA verification.

DEKRA, an independent testing and certification lab, member of the ADA, and CASA contributor, verified that BenQ EZWrite 6 meets CASA Tier 3 standards. Although developers can self-test their application by following CASA guidelines and review to achieve CASA Tier 2, BenQ chose to have EZWrite 6 undergo comprehensive lab testing and lab verification to pass Tier 3 requirements.
