K.Y. Lee

Chairman, BenQ Corporation

 


K.Y. Lee is the Chairman of BenQ, a leading innovator of digital lifestyle devices dedicated to Bringing Enjoyment ‘N’ Quality to Life. His determination and vision for expansion and development has helped BenQ Corporation and the BenQ brand name grow to be critically acclaimed by industry experts and praised by consumers around the world.  
 
Lee first started his career at Acer Group, where he quickly progressed his way through various positions in manufacturing, marketing, sales and strategic planning, and eventually assumed the position of Vice President of Acer, Inc.

In 1991, Lee transferred to Acer Peripherals as President and in 2000, Acer Peripherals became Acer Communications and Multimedia (ACM), reflecting Lee’s vision for the company’s strategic move from a peripherals company to a communications, optical and multimedia powerhouse. In 2001, ACM adopted the name BenQ to better reflect its focus on ‘Bringing Enjoyment and Quality to Life’ and integrating technologies with modern digital lifestyles. In 2005, BenQ has accumulated industry insight to further solidify its 3C strengths and brand prowess in hopes to launch the BenQ brand onto the world stage.

Under Lee’s leadership, BenQ’s vertical integration business strategy has been essential to its rapid growth and expansion. Throughout Lee’s tenure, BenQ has seen the increase in breadth of the BenQ Group, a group that consists of 16 companies today. These companies operate independently while sharing resources and leveraging synergies among them. The BenQ Group companies include BenQ Corporation, AU Optronics Corporation, the world’s third largest manufacturer of TFT-LCD panels; Qisda Corporation, Darfon Electronics Corporation, Daxon Technology Inc., Daxin Materials Corp., Forhouse Corp., Light House Tech, SiPix Imaging, Lextar Electronics Corp., BenQ Guru Software Co., BenQ Hospital, Darwin Precisions, Ltd, Raydium Semiconductor Corporation, Cando Corporation and Wellypower Co., Ltd.

Lee is an avid reader and shares a passion for history. He also enjoys a myriad of outdoor activities including hiking, mountain climbing and cycling. Leading by example, Lee makes recommendations to BenQ’s internal book club and leads the annual BenQ Olympiad as well as the annual Yushan Mountain (3992 meter in height) executive climb in southern Taiwan.

Lee holds a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University and an MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Jerry Wang
Vice Chairman, BenQ Corporation





Jerry Wang is vice chairman of BenQ Corporation. Since joining BenQ in 2001, Wang has been responsible for the establishment, strategic planning and operations of the BenQ brand. Under his guidance, BenQ has made itself a global brand name with distinct style in a short 6-year span.

Wang’s rare experience to have successfully managed two internationally renowned brands is a gem in the industry.  His guidance in repositioning the Acer brand in the market propelled the brand in consumer awareness; his vital leadership in BenQ’s brand establishment, strategic planning and corporate visual identity system catapulted the BenQ brand to the global stage. Wang is also an expert in sports sponsorship; he has coordinated sponsorships in major international sport events, including the 1998 Asia Games and the UEFA EURO 2004 as the official IT & statistics provider.

Wang has accumulated over 20 years of experience in the consumer IT industry. Starting his career at Acer Group in 1985 as a sales engineer, he soon ascended the ranks as Marketing Manager, Director of Product Management, Managing Director of Acer UK, and Managing Director of Acer’s Northwest Europe operations. In 1998, Wang was promoted to Acer’s Vice President of Corporate Brand Management and Global Marketing, spearheading the repositioning of the Acer brand name. Wang’s initiatives included the repositioning the Acer brand and the transformation of the Acer logo, the innovative Total Brand Management system.

Wang holds an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird – The American Graduate School of International Management.

Conway Lee
President & CEO, BenQ Corporation
 





Conway Lee is President of BenQ Corporation, overseeing the company’s worldwide development and operations. With the goal of establishing BenQ as a leading provider of lifestyle 3C products that complement every aspect of consumers’ lives, Lee aims to concentrate the company’s R&D investment on advanced technologies that will play a pivotal part in the network convergence era. Lee had served as General Manager of BenQ’s Digital Media Business Group, a position he held since 2006. He assumed the current position in September, 2007.

At the same time, Lee is also in charge of the development of the European regional sales and marketing network, establishing new business models, including marketing strategies and channel policies for BenQ Europe. Under his leadership, BenQ Europe has achieved a 400% revenue growth since 1998, and branch offices have been established in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, Russia and Italy, Sweden, Poland, Romania and Czech Republic.

Prior to joining BenQ in 1998, Lee worked with the Acer Group from 1989 to 1998. His responsibilities include sales, product management & marketing, new business development, country head and global distribution chain management.

Lee holds an MBA from the University of Southern Mississippi in the United States.

Peter Chen
Executive Vice President &
General Manager of
Technology Product Center,
BenQ Corporation



Peter Chen is General Manager of BenQ’s Technology Product Center. In this role, he is responsible for all aspects of the Technology Product Center, including product development, product marketing, procurement, quality and worldwide after sale services. The center encompasses a broad range of 3C products, including digital projectors, LCD monitors, LCD television sets, Joybook, digital cameras, mobile phones and input devices such as keyboards and mice.

Chen joined BenQ in 1991 as the department manager for the R&D of CRT monitors. Recognized for his years of professional achievements in the monitor field, Peter Chen was entrusted in 1998 to lead the business department of LCD monitors. In addition to monitors, he also developed projectors, digital cameras, car infotainment devices and other new businesses which provided BenQ with a solid foundation for further developments in the 3C, and networked and digital convergence fields.

Chen started out in the research and development of CRT monitors. He served as an analog engineer at the much renowned Taiwan-based TECO Home Appliances and was promoted to the R&D Manager of the Outsourcing Department. His long-term involvement in the field provided him with an in-depth understanding of video product development.

Peter Chen graduated from the National Cheng Kung University in 1985 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In 2001, he received the Master of International Management degree from the Thunderbird Business School.
